How can I be happy? You would think that would be the most asked question. But often, when I speak to people about the Law of Attraction, they instead say they want to manifest money, a house, a soulmate, a job or to look differently. But very rarely do they say to me that they just wish to be happy!
In today’s world of social media, young people in particular find it hard to simply be content and happy. They often feel pressured to look a certain way, to wear certain clothes and to have certain things – these material things are touted as the only way to happiness. TV shows such as Love Island certainly put the emphasis on the material things in life.
To take the perfect Instagram shot becomes the ‘be all and end all’ and more and more people try to attain fame through social media. But rarely do they just stop and analyse why it is that they want the fame/job/looks/money. The truth is – at the end of it all, it really come down to happiness.
Everyone Is Searching For Happiness!
Everyone is searching for happiness but sadly few realise it. They search in all of the wrong places. They feel that if they just had a bit more of this or more of that then they will finally be satisfied, but rarely is that true.
That’s not to say that to want those things is bad in any way, because its not. Each and every person is their own creator and every person is on their own journey. Truth be told, nobody will ever really feel completely satisfied chasing ‘things‘ because along the way new desires will come forth and you will change your goals. That’s why being happy right now (instead of thinking that something material will fix everything) is so important. But how to find happiness? It is easier than you think.
Now I’m going to make a controversial statement. You can be happy by just deciding to be happy. Crazy right? Nope, you can literally just decide to be happy right now!
Start With Gratitude
It starts with gratitude (you can check out my post about the benefits of gratitude here). When you are feeling grateful its very hard to be miserable. Gratefulness immediately shifts your vibration to a positive one. It releases resistance which ‘allows’ all the things you have asked for to start to flow into your reality.
You may ask, ‘What do I have to be grateful about?’ But if you really dig deep, there is always something to be grateful for. A roof over your head… food in your fridge… a friend or relative who you can talk to… a sunset… a pet. If you are really in dire straights and struggling to find anything to be grateful for, think for a moment about some of the things you read in the paper, about people in war-torn countries or in places where there has been a natural disaster. There is always someone worse off than you and therefore, there is always something to be grateful for.
Obviously try not to dwell on other people’s negatives too long, as that can itself bring down your happiness levels. It should only be used as a contrast tool should you have difficulty in coming up with your own reasons to be grateful.
Once you have reasons to be grateful, take a moment to revel in them. Let the joy, happiness and contentment around the subject fill you. As you do this you are, in this very moment, shifting your vibration and attracting positive things into your life.
Visualisation is a great technique to shift your vibration. (find out more in this post) It can also help you manifest exactly what you want. But bottom line – dont seek things, seek happiness, and the rest will fall into place.
