Many scientific studies have been done on the subject of gratitude and what they discovered may surprise you! In my opinion here are the 7 biggest reasons why gratitude will transform your life for the better.
1. Being grateful has been proven to improve your physical health.
Studies have shown that grateful people tend to suffer with less aches and pains and are more likely to take care of themselves. They are more likely to attend health checks and make healthier choices.
2. Being grateful improves mental health.
People who are grateful feel less bitterness or resentment towards others. They are happy when others do well, which in turn creates a state of ‘allowing’. All the things they desire begin to flow to them, as they have little or no resistance.
3. Gratitude improves overall happiness.
Grateful people feel less depressed. As they are focused on all the good in their lives, they feel optimistic about the future. Rather than see problems, they notice opportunities. This leads to them taking advantage of opportunities that a more pessimistic person might ignore.
4. Being grateful reduces fear.
Fear is the death of a positive vibration. When we are feeling fearful, we tend to overanalyse situations and focus on worse case scenarios. Unfortunately this negative focus can eventually manifest those worst-case scenarios to appear in our reality.
Being fearful often makes us feel the lack of what we want. When trying to manifest an abundant life this is the very last thing you want to feel.
When fear goes, however, ‘allowing‘ takes its place and all your desires start to flow to you.
5. Gratitude completely shifts your focus.
When you are feeling grateful for something, you are totally focused on what you have rather than what you don’t have. This then starts a gradual shift in your vibration.
When you are focused on what you don’t want or don’t have, you tend to only notice those negative things. But when you focus on all the great things in your life you tend to notice more and more all the little things that you might have taken for granted. The minute this occurs your vibration shifts, and you start to attract more and more of the good stuff.
Being grateful is one of quickest tools for shifting your vibration and improving your physical and mental health. So, what is there not to like?
One of my favourite tools.
One of the things that I enjoy is keeping a little gratitude book by my bed. Every night I write three things that I am grateful for. This resets me to a positive mindset before I go to sleep.
Currently I use a little jewelled notepad, but in the past I have used a plain one. Truthfully, it really doesn’t matter, because what’s essential is your actual emotion when you are writing down your three things. It’s pointless just doing it by rote because it’s the emotion of gratefulness that shifts our vibration, not the words themselves. That’s why I always try to think of different things I am grateful for. It keeps the emotion genuine.
